Yodobashi Camera released its sales rankings for the beginning of April, and according to them, Canon and Nikon are moving up in the rankings.
With no great surprise, the R100 is nowhere to be found.
Canon's R6 Mark II and R50 placed in the top 10 in 4th and 5th place respectively. Yodobashi isn't usually a solid “we only sell to professionals” camera company in Japan, so we see different rankings on how things are going in Japan.
Overall for the camera market, Japan wouldn't appear that interesting to you and me. But it is very much a pride thing to the Japanese camera companies. Canon abhors not being #1 in this market. So when we see Canon lagging, we know that they will do something about it.
The R6 Mark II continues to sell well, which is especially interesting considering it's well into 18 months old at this point. Usually, the rankings are dominated by new camera releases. Canon seems to have hit that sweet spot of video, stills, and price with the R6 Mark II.
I find it interesting that the A7C is selling that well, and it's a camera body that Canon has no answer to. I would certainly love to see Canon make a camera similar to this – especially because I liked the smaller form factor of the EOS-M's and the M6 Mark II.
- Sony α7C II body
- Sony α7C II zoom lens kit
- Nikon Z 50 double zoom kit
- Canon EOS R6 Mark II body
- Canon EOS R50/double zoom kit
- Sony α7 IV body
- Fujifilm X-T5 body
- Nikon Z 8 body
- Sony α7R V body
- Nikon Z f 40mm f/2 ( SE) Lens kit
I hope such a body keeps all the features the R8 has and isn’t cost optimized like the R100.
Canon seems not to put so much money in these years.
In places like Best Buy and Target, there is only a Canon section.
It is no wonder that Canon sells so well in the USA.
In Japan, they are not worry people to touch and try many lens
Thank you this. Canon dunking on themselves bringing out that POS.
