Canon has released Powershot V10, firmware version 1.20. A week ago, but we missed it.

The Powershot V10 is Caon's foray into vlogging and receives this update to improve its image stabilization.

You can download the patch here from Canon USA. It doesn't seem to be on Canon Europe's website as of yet.

Patch Notes;

Firmware Version 1.2.0 incorporates the following enhancement:
1. Performance of image stabilization has been enhanced.

If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.2.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Preparations for a firmware update:
After the downloaded compressed file (.zip) is extracted, a firmware folder is created.

*Extracting the downloaded file:
Right-click the zip file, and then select Extract All to extract the file.

In the folder you downloaded are the firmware (PSV10120.FIR / file size: 48,770,592 bytes) and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese). Before starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to carefully review the instructions to confirm your understanding of the firmware update procedures.

(The following is the history of past firmware updates.)

  1. the firmware was pretty big I think. 48MB. took longer than I expected. the image stabilization is definitely better with less possible ghosting than before (seen when you move fast or are recording while walking fast).
