Announcement Summary

You will probably want to tune into Canon's Cinema EOS event on YouTube tomorrow, as there are a lot of Cinema EOS, EOS and RF products being announced. Maybe we'll even get a few more tidbits about a few other eagerly anticipated products.

The big one for shooters will the first of a trio of L prime lenses for both stills and video shooters. We have waited a long time for these to come, and as reported previously, we're going to get the 35mm f/1.4L VCM first.

Canon RF 35mm f/1.4L VCM

We're assuming that “VCM” will be some type of new linear focus motor. Some have mentioned “Voice Coil Motor”, but we'll wait to see the actual technical documents to know for sure. No word if either the RF 24mm f/1.4L VCM or RF 50mm f/1.4L VCM will be mentioned tomorrow.

Canon Speedlite EL-10

It doesn't end there, we will FINALLY see the Canon Speedlite EL-10 we reported about last August. Maybe we'll be able to buy one before 2026? Time will tell.

We just report, we don't actually build the factories, source the parts and make the gear. We can only do what we can do. It's nice to see some stuff actually coming to market.

Canon Cinema EOS C400

Canon Cinema EOS C400 – Topaz Photo AI Enlarged

We don't have a lot of detail about it, but it'll cost a lot and probably be pretty cool.

There will also be a couple of other goodies announced. So if you have some time tomorrow at 3PM EDT, you should probably hit up Canon USA's YouTube channel for the presentation.

  1. So what other lenses will we realistically see from Canon within the next year or so with all these delays?

Obviously the 24 f/1.4 and the 50 f/1.4 but what else?

I REALLY hope Canon releases an updated version of their RF15-35 f/2.8 and maybe even an updated RF24-70 f/2.8

  2. Thank God it's a 1.4. I prefer lighter lenses. I will pre-order. If there\'s a 50mm 1.4, I will sell my RF 50mm 1.2 in a heartbeat even though I love it. Hoping they have no focus breathing.

  3. Just so everyone knows, You can save your kidney for the cameras.. this L is going to surprise price wise.
When I saw this lens release togther with cine stuff, I thought to myself:
"Some will be pretty disappointed! With the price, the size and supposedly some features..."
I'll make no bet, but I suppose the lenses to be far (!) north of $2k. We'll see.

Depending on where you live on earth (Sorry UK), the price will be a nice surprise. I will release it once I have confirmed the pricing in more currencies.

  5. How solid is the info on the name of the camera. I saw many say it was meant to between a C300 and C500 camera , so I am wondering if this name just came from that or if the name is definitely going to be C400.

    I. only ask because the C70 is arguably better than c100, c200. I was wondering if they were changing naming schemes with the RF mount.

I guess it doesn't matter. LOL.

From some of the rumors I have heard the "C400" is going to be pretty great (8k DGO) and probably very expensive.

    Tomorrow should be fun.

  6. My bet on VCM is Variance-Covariance Matrix just because it sounded cool and forced me to re-live college.

This would be a very pleasant surprise and probably the best news! And if this supposedly price tag is carries over to future F1.4 L primes I could see myself getting one.
