Thanks for the ID.Nice photo of Papilio machaon but how I can say you can/can't see it in your area if I don't know your area
Even though it might be a "not even good photo" the species looks very interestingThe only butterfly from today... Not even good photo but it is as it is
It's Lampides boeticus - one of the most common Lycaenidae here. It's usually just a migrant to Europe but I'm pretty sure it will survive some winters in Southern Europe. Any way - in Bulgaria I wasn't able to see even one (and as you already know I'm from Bulgaria and many Years collected butterflies)! My first photos of the species are from Hawaii and I already posted back in the time better images.Even though it might be a "not even good photo" the species looks very interesting
There are some with tails on the wings, but not so long and prominent, as its name tells as well: long-tailed blue.... And yes - for you in Germany it should be an exotic.
It took me several seconds to figure out what I'm looking atWooly buggerView attachment 212258

I like the photo but I wouldn't say it is P. brassicaeYet another one of the pieridae. Could this be a female large white (pieris brassicae) ?

If you had any idea... I haven't any better.I like the photo but I wouldn't say it is P. brassicae
Try Pieris mannii. I don't know in which part of Germany u are but it seems to be widening it's rangeIf you had any idea... I haven't any better.
Those two big spots on the forewing get me puzzled - though one is washed out.
Thanks. I live near Nürnberg (Nuremberg) in Franconia. Don't call it "Bavaria". The locals will get upset But that's another storyTry Pieris mannii. I don't know in which part of Germany u are but it seems to be widening it's range
