What is Your Most Wanted Canon RF Lens/Camera That Isn't Available?

Most frustrating to me is the lens that IS available - to order, but not actually get - the RF 10-20. It's 5 months and 11 days since the announcement (and ability to "pre-order") yet only a handful of people who jumped online within 2 minutes of the announcement actually have one. And, as neuroanatomist pointed out, Adorama says the expected availability still isn't until sometime in May. B & H won't speculate at all.

As I also said, I found one in stock and ordered it. I placed the order on 12-Feb and received the lens on 14-Feb. It took a bit of digging, I had to go pretty far down the list in Google Shopping. The first two stores I called that listed the lens as In Stock on their online storefront didn't actually have the lens, but the third store that I called had one...and now I have it. Sort of a case of making my own luck, but if you really want the lens, there may be one out there for you.

I've seen them pop up from time to time for a premium well over the Canon price, but that's all. Your digging deep paid off. Meanwhile, I ordered from B & H using my Payboo card to save the sales taxes (in my case $218!) months ago figuring B&H would be among the first to get them in due to the huge amount of business they do with Canon products. Sigh, I have no choice but to have patience.

For instance, there is currently one available from Tristate Camera on eBay for $2,644.97 + 231.43 (ST) = $2876.40. But in addition to the premium, they are not an authorized Canon dealer so you can't get the 4 year Canon Carepak (which I always get on higher-priced cameras and lenses - it's paid off). Again, sigh, waiting, waiting, waiting...

I've seen those pop up on Amazon from 3rd party sellers. Anyone doing that is not a Canon Authorized Dealer, which could lead to warranty issues down the line (unlikely, but possible), so while I can see the possible temptation to save money going that route, spending more and still taking the risk would be more of a 'need' for a lens than I'd ever have.

Before I called a dealer listing the lens as in stock, I made sure they were on Canon USA's list. FWIW, the small dealers generally only charge sales tax if they're shipping in their own state. The shop I purchased from was in a state other than mine (but a state that does have a sales tax), and they did not charge me any tax or shipping, so all I paid was list price for the lens (making it my responsibility to declare the purchase when I file my state taxes next year).

You created your own "luck", that's great, I hope you're having fun with the lens!
The RF 10-20 mm f4 has been a challenging lens to obtain as you and others have pointed out. I waited six weeks to get the second copy from my local shop. On the release day my local shop only received one copy of the lens which is atypical because usually they get 2-3 copies.

I know I am late to the party, but I would like to see an RF version of the EF 24-85 or a 24-70 f4. Something smaller and lighter than the 24-105 f4 but not painfully slow like many of the non L RF lenses.
I hope that we eventually see several of the great EF lenses find their way over to RF mount. An RF 24-70 would make for a great “kit lens” for the R6 range. If the lens can come in under $950 that would be excellent.

A few lenses I would consider would be: RF 24 mm Tilt-Shift, RF 70-200 mm f2.8 Z internal zoom, RF 200-500 mm f4. Might pick up a 24 mm f1.4, but am still undecided.
We typically have similar taste in lenses, but I’m not so sure this time…though, mostly it’s because current lenses meet much of that.

I’m not sure what a TS-R 24mm would offer over the TS-E. I’d be interested in a 14mm TS, though. I like the compact size of the RF 70-200/2.8, enough that I’d actually prefer the 24-105/2.8 with an extending design.

For me, a 140-420/4 (100-300/2.8 + 1.4x) is close enough to a 200-500/4 for field sports and similar use cases, and while it’s not a small lens the 200-500/4 is likely to be about the size of a 600/4.

Many years ago, in deciding between the 35/1.4L and 24/1.4L II, I picked the former as my preferred focal length. I still mostly shot it at f/2 or narrower, so the 28-70/2 covers that need and many more.

Based on recent rumors, I’m not really seeing any lenses to tempt me. At least the yield on my gear fund is reasonably good these days.

1. Any successor for the 200 f2 would be probably lovely. There are many ways they could improve it, either as a prime (f1.8 and/or adding a x1.4), or make it a zoom with fix or variable aperture (ex 135-200 f2 or 100-200 f1.4-2 or 200-300 f2-2.8). My preference would be a moderate zoom with a 1.4x, but frankly I will just buy whatever they offer.

2. Creative TS-R lens with sensor bending magic. Lots of interesting patents lately. Being able to bend the focal plate while using AF would be great creatively speaking. Of curse bright long TS lens preferred for this (ex 50 f1.4 or 85 f2).

3. Please open the FF mount to Sigma. Plenty of good art prime there, there will be more great lens from them, I want to have access to those.

I’d love to have a all-in-one fast zoom.

E mount has one
Z mount has one
L mount is getting one

35-150 f2-2.8 pleaassseeeeeeee

I’d rarely ever need to use another lens. But I get that’s probably why Canon doesn’t want to make it ;) they’d hate to lose sale on other lenses.

I photograph track meets. With the large distances in a track stadium, I would like to see a replacement for the 35-350mm. You can get team pictures and closeup action shots. I bet with the advances in lens design it could be made much lighter, sharper and with less chromatic aberation. As long as it isn't a push pull design. I suppose it could be used at any outdoor sporting event.
